Sick of trying!

June 24, 2009

I get really tired of people trying to do something.

I will try to get back to you by the end of this week, I’ll try to pay that invoice today, I’ll try to come to your party.

Even worse is when people say “I am trying”. I’m trying to lose weight or I’m trying to quit smoking. Usually, this is followed by a “but”, which means they actually really tried but it didn’t work out.

Where does all this trying get you? What does it even mean?

I used to drop in the word try quite a bit myself. I’ll  try to go for a run 3 times this week,  I’ll try to make more time for the kids, I’ll try to be nicer to the guy at the petrol station.

Now, I’m not anymore. I just do. Trying is just kidding yourself.
