10 commandments of a Headhunter

June 23, 2009

1)  You are only as good as your placements

2)  Plan your work and work your plan

3)  Stay in touch with prospects, clients and candidates: never forget that time kills
     all deals

4)  Remember when hunting for candidates, as in hunting for lions, to use a rifle
     not a shotgun

5) Always remember the 5 best ways to build a relationship:

  1. Face-to-face
  2. Phone
  3. Phone
  4. Phone
  5. Email

6)  Don’t get seduced by technology: it’s a tool, not a crutch

7)  Strive for win-wins

8)  Search is a lifestyle, not a job. If you need to pretend to be someone else from
9 to 5, it’s probably not for you

9)  Don’t forget that Headhunting is a contact sport

10) Communicate, communicate, communicate
